NOTE: This is a compilation of skills and facts to be learned during the preschool years. A child should be able to complete and understand at the end of the preschool years.
Language Arts
Art
- Can identify their primary and secondary colors
- Can identify the difference between a light or dark color (light blue versus dark blue)
- Working on cutting and pasting
Music
- Listen to music that helps them remember concepts (alphabet song, days of the week song, etc..)
- Sing rhyming songs
Reading
- Read, read, read to your child everyday! Check out the list of picture books we love.
- Read lots of rhymes and rhythms
- Introduce them to classic stories, even said in your own words
Writing & Grammar
- Can write their name
- Knows the alphabet song
- Grips a pencil correctly
Mathematics
Numbers
- Count from 1 to 20
- Identify the numbers 1 through 10
- Identify how many objects in a group through 10
- Draw a line from a picture of a number of objects to the number it represents through 10
Objects
- Sort objects by theme (color, animals, food, etc..)
Shapes & Patterns
- Identify the basic shapes
- Draw simple patterns (zig zag, waves, etc..)
Development
- Read more about the development of pre-school aged children
